A Day in Pompeii and a wish made at the Trevi

Our day started with a thrilling ride on the Eurostar to Naples - a sleek, modern train that travels around 200km per hour - that took a hours traveling time. A major contrast was the local Circumvesuviana, a local train to Sorrento that stops at Pompeii. It was like an old Sydney red rattler crammed with people like peak hour in Sydney but covered with layers of graffiti. The train ride through the suburbs of Naples was a real eye opener with graffiti everywhere!

At Pompeii we had an audio tour through the site and saw some amazing things. Here is what Sam and Josh have to say about the day:

"Pompeiian was gooden and I'll song you about it!"

From Josh

"it was an amazing experience. The city's ruins were huge and so interesting. seeing how they lived was very eye opening. Today has been an experience adding to the amazing time we are having on the trip."

"Italians have an interesting interpretation of green salad. Literally just a plate of one type of lettuce"

From Sam

Look, Mr O'Connell, Mount Vesuvius! Even though it was shrouded in cloud!

Later in the evening, on our return from Naples, we went back to the Trevi Fountain to throw in a coin and make a wish before we left Rome!

PS: Blogger Sue updates the blog late at night after the day's activities and can be a little weary - so the last blog has Jenny leading the group at the Vatican and not Julie! Whoopsie!
